Objectives

At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:

  • Know the principles of communication systems (CAN BUS) and troubleshoot them.
  • Check sensors and actuators.
  • Understand the concept of proportional controls and master their settings.

Program

1. CIRCUIT ARCHITECTURE
  • Logic: Wired – Cabled – Digital – Calculator and Programme.
2. SENSOR AND ACTUATOR TECHNOLOGY
  • Sensors and electronic module: Digital input – Analogue input – Processing inputs on an electronic module (voltage, current and frequency) – Digital output – Analogue input – PWM output – 3-wire and 2-wire electronic sensors (inductive, capacitive, hall effect) – Speed sensors (m
3. CAN BUS MULTIPLEXING
  • How the CAN BUS communication network works.
  • Electromagnetic interference – Role of shielding.
  • Impact of electric welding.
  • Termination resistors.
  • Checking a Can network using an on-machine multimeter.
4. PROPORTIONAL VALVES
  • Integration into the ECU or remote card.
  • Settings: Ramps – Min./Max. current
5. ENGINE POLLUTION CONTROL BASICS
  • Circuits: Lubrication – Injection – Cooling – Exhaust gases – “Diesel exhaust fluid”.
  • Pollution control management: SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) – DPF/FAP (Diesel Particulate Filter), etc.
6. READING MULTIPLEXED DIAGRAMS (CAN BUS)
  • Identification of the main ECU circuits (power supplies, grounds, communication circuits).
  • Identification of the machine’s various multiplexed networks.
  • Identification of the different types of ECU input/output circuits.
7. TROUBLESHOOTING METHODOLOGY
  • Methodology for checking and performing diagnostics on a multiplexed circuit (CAN BUS) and proportional valves.
8. PRACTICAL EXERCISE ON SIMULATOR
  • Measurements and checks on circuits.

PLEASE NOTE: You may need to be accredited, depending on the electrical characteristics of your mobile machinery.
ESSENTIAL: Trainees must bring:
ELECTRICAL DIAGRAMS of their machines
