Open Circuit Controls

Objectives

At the end of the course, trainees will be able to:

  • Read a hydraulic diagram.
  • Understand how a complete hydraulic system works.

Program

1. HY3 SAFETY: IDENTIFY THE SAFETY POINTS FOR INTERVENTION BY ANALYSING THE DIAGRAM (LOCKOUT MANAGER)
  • Lockout – Removal of lockout.
2. REFRESHER ON THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CIRCUIT
  • Open circuit – Closed circuit.
3. ANALYSIS OF TYPICAL CIRCUITS / OPEN CIRCUITS
  • Simultaneous movements: Multiple pumps – Flow dividers – 3-way flow regulators (priority and excess flow).
  • Setting the speed: Chokes – Flow regulators.
  • Maintaining speed under variable load: Constant pressure and flow regulation (Load-Sensing) – Flow Sharing regulation combined with power regulation.
  • Effort control: Progressive pressure distribution – Constant power control.
  • Drive load control: Safety – Balancing, brake, parachute and rupture valves for hoses.
4. ANALYSIS OF TYPICAL / CLOSED CIRCUITS
  • Booster – Scavenge – Oil exchange – High-pressure (HP) or anti-shock valves – Flow cancellation – Servo control.
5. READING DIAGRAMS
  • Methodologies.
  • Identification of symbols and circuits.
  • Analysis of the machine’s operating phases.
  • Interpretation of pressures and flows.
6. TROUBLESHOOTING BY SCHEMATIC ANALYSIS
  • Definition of the symptom (knowing how to ask the right questions).
  • Formulation of hypotheses (possible causes).
  • Principles for eliminating assumptions (Visualisation, Permutation).
  • Mistakes to avoid.
  • Diagnostic.
  • Fault analysis on application diagrams.

Trainees must bring: Hydraulic diagrams of their machines
